Plagiarism Check

The Andalasian International Journal of Entomology (AIJENT) upholds a strict policy against plagiarism to maintain the integrity of published research and support ethical standards in scholarly publishing. AIJENT uses Turnitin software to screen all submitted manuscripts for similarity and originality.

Key Points of AIJENT’s Plagiarism Policy

  1. Similarity Index Threshold
    • Manuscripts submitted to AIJENT must have a similarity index of 20% or lower to proceed through the review and publication process. Any manuscript with a similarity score exceeding this threshold will be automatically rejected, and the authors will be notified.
  2. Plagiarism Screening Process
    • Upon submission, each manuscript is checked for similarity using Turnitin software. This initial screening assesses the manuscript for potential overlap with published literature, including duplicate content, improper citations, or unacknowledged use of others’ work.
  3. Types of Plagiarism
    • AIJENT defines plagiarism to include direct copying, paraphrasing without proper attribution, and the reuse of data or ideas without acknowledgment. This policy applies to all sections of the manuscript, including figures, tables, and text. Self-plagiarism, or redundant publication of the author’s own previously published work, is also strictly prohibited unless appropriately cited.
  4. Consequences of High Similarity
    • Manuscripts found to have a similarity index above 20% are immediately returned to the authors with a recommendation for revision or rejection. Authors may be given the opportunity to revise and resubmit if the overlap is minor and unintentional. However, repeated or egregious cases of plagiarism will result in outright rejection and may lead to further action as per COPE guidelines.
  5. Commitment to Ethical Standards
    • AIJENT is committed to promoting high ethical standards and encourages authors to ensure originality in their work. Authors should take care to properly cite sources, avoid excessive overlap, and review their manuscript’s similarity score before submission to prevent issues related to plagiarism.

By adhering to this Plagiarism Policy, AIJENT ensures that all published content meets rigorous standards of academic integrity and contributes credibly to the field of entomology.
